The Red Sea might be the most popular destination for diving in Saudi Arabia, but tourists often forget that KSA borders the Arabian Gulf as well. Travelers can find unique diving experiences while visiting Dammam, Al Khobar and Dhahran, or drive just an hour north to less-crowded reefs in Jubail.

Just a three-and-a-half-hour drive by car and an hour by plane from Riyadh, Saudi’s Eastern Province offers scuba diving and snorkeling experiences in the Arabian Gulf through several trusted dive shops. Divers can stay in the capital city of Dammam, or venture nearby to Al Khobar and Dhahran. Half Moon Bay is one of the most popular places for diving in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. The enclave contains an artificial reef formed by sunken cars and vehicles jam-packed with sea creatures.

Jubail boasts a more intimate diving experience, and divers who decide to take the plunge in the Persian Gulf will explore Fanateer Reef as well as Jana Reef and Jana Wall, both part of Jannah (also spelled Jinnah and Jinna) Island.
